About me
Scientist at Cambrian Bioworks, Bangalore, with an MSc in Medical Genetics & Genomics (University of Glasgow) and a BTech in Biotechnology. My experience spans qPCR, NGS, nucleic acid purification, IVD kit development, AMR surveillance, and liquid biopsy research. Co-author in the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (2023). Happy to mentor students in molecular biology, genomics, and biotech career navigation.
Interests: My core interests lie at the intersection of molecular diagnostics, genomics, and lab automation — particularly in making nucleic acid-based workflows more robust, scalable, and clinically applicable. I’m drawn to questions around sample quality and assay performance: how degraded or complex samples (like FFPE tissue or liquid biopsy) behave differently, what RNA and DNA quality metrics actually predict downstream success, and how extraction and purification chemistry can be optimised for real-world sample types rather than ideal inputs. On the genomics side, I’m interested in applied NGS — library preparation workflows, sequencing in AMR surveillance contexts, and the translation of sequencing data into actionable diagnostic or clinical outputs. I find the gap between research-grade and field-deployable genomic tools genuinely compelling, which is why I’m also drawn to the IVD development space: how assays go from benchtop optimisation to validated, reproducible kits. More broadly, I’m interested in lab automation as a scientific problem — not just as an efficiency tool, but as a way of stress-testing assay design, surfacing hidden variability, and enabling scale. This includes liquid handling integration, centrifuge-free clarification strategies, and how chemistry (bead surface modification, buffer formulation) interacts with automated platforms. Longer-term, I’m curious about precision medicine applications — particularly cfDNA, liquid biopsy, and how molecular tools can be designed for accessibility beyond well-resourced lab settings.
