About me

I am a senior research fellow at the department of Biotechnology, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. I've completed the whole-genome sequencing and assembly of the asian palm tree, Borassus flabellifer. My expertise is in plant genomes, methodologies for plant gDNA extraction, sequencing pipeline, and the assembly and annotation pipeline (Illumina). I am also skilled in Python, Linux Bash and Docker. I'll help students to learn and understand plant genomics and basic bioinformatic concepts.

Interests: My research focus is on plant genomics, signalling pathways associated with plant defense and stress response. I also focus on Illumina short-read sequencing, genome assembly and annotation pipelines, and functional genomics. I have also exposure in Illumina TELL-linked read sequencing technology, a method to assemble genome, preserving long-range sequencing information. Besides WGS and bioinformatics, I am also interested in tissue regenration in lower vertebrates and invertebrates, especially retina regeneration in zebrafish and the pluripotent regeneration in earthworms. Regarding the former, I have studied extensively the FOS gene family members (c-fos, fos-ab, cjun, etc.,)with regard to their role in the Müller glial reprogramming during retina regeneration in zebrafish.
