About me
Received a grant in aid of Rs. 1,00,000 from Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology as Coordinator to conduct of Application of Science and Technology on Rural Areas (ASTRA) - 2021 held in PG and Research Centre in Microbiology, MGR College, Hosur on 28th December to 30th December 2021, 4th January and 5th January 2022.
Interests: Research Interests My research is centered on Microbial Biotechnology, Environmental Bioremediation, Green Nanotechnology, and Biomedical Applications. Over the past several years, my work has evolved through multidisciplinary collaborations that integrate microbiology, nanoscience, bioprocess engineering, and biomedical research. My major research contributions include: Microbial Biopolymer Production and Waste Valorization Pioneered the use of Alcaligenes eutrophus and A. latus for producing poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) from industrial and agricultural wastes. Employed response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD) for optimizing yield, reducing production cost, and enhancing biopolymer properties. This early work contributed to the development of biodegradable plastics and circular bioeconomy strategies. Bioelectricity and Environmental Biotechnology Designed sediment microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) for the generation of bioelectricity from dairy wastewater, linking microbial metabolism to energy recovery. Developed microbial consortia for wastewater treatment and heavy metal bioremediation, emphasizing low-cost, eco-friendly remediation processes. Green Nanotechnology and Biomedical Research Developed plant- and microbe-mediated synthesis of metal nanoparticles (Ag, Au, Fe, Zn–CdS). Explored their antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-diabetic, and wound healing properties. Published extensively in Environmental Research, Inorganic Chemistry Communications, Environmental Pollution, and Biomedicine & Pharmacotherapy, focusing on safe and sustainable nanomaterials. Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine Participated in the isolation, characterization, and therapeutic evaluation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from placenta and Wharton’s jelly. Investigated the biocompatibility and differentiation potential of MSCs, supporting their use in tissue regeneration and neuroprotective applications (ACS Omega, Current Issues in Molecular Biology). Phytochemical and Nutraceutical Studies Conducted phytochemical screening and bioassays of medicinal plants and edible mushrooms (Pleurotus spp., Annona muricata, Capsicum frutescens). Established the therapeutic efficacy of natural compounds in oxidative stress, diabetes, and neurodegenerative models
