About me

Dr. Sufiya Shabir is a Gold Medalist in PhD (Silviculture & Agroforestry) with expertise in Wood Science and sustainable land-use systems. Secured AIR 36 (ICAR AIEEA-JRF 2020), AIR 24 (AIEEA-SRF 2022), and qualified ASRB-NET (2023, 2025). Five publications in reputed journals (Nature portfolio, Springer), authored a Wood Science practical manual, received multiple awards, and serves as an invited reviewer for international journals.

Interests: My research focuses on wood science, agroforestry, and sustainable land-use systems. I work on thermal modification of wood to improve durability and decay resistance, along with tree- and fruit-based agroforestry systems for livelihood security. My interests also include soil–plant interactions and soil health under different land-use practices, aiming to develop climate-resilient forestry solutions.
