About me

Highly motivated synthetic organic chemist with a Ph.D. from IIT Bombay, specializing in stereoselective synthesis of complex N/O-heterocycles. Expertise in Lewis acid-mediated transformations, alkynyl hydroxylamine chemistry, and bioactive molecule synthesis. Developed iodine(III) and hydroalkoxylation methods. Experienced in teaching and mentoring, fostering critical thinking, practical skills, and connecting theory with real-world applications.

Interests: My research interests lie at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry, sustainable chemistry, and functional materials, with a focus on developing innovative methodologies for constructing structurally complex and biologically relevant molecules. I am particularly interested in designing stereoselective and atom-economical transformations for the synthesis of N/O-heterocycles, which are key motifs in natural products and pharmaceutical agents. Building on my expertise in Lewis acid-mediated reactions and alkynyl hydroxylamine chemistry, I aim to further explore catalytic strategies—especially transition metal catalysis and metal-free systems—to enable efficient and selective bond-forming processes. A central aspect of my research is the development of novel synthetic approaches for alkaloids and other bioactive compounds, emphasizing step economy, functional group tolerance, and environmentally benign conditions. I am also interested in iodine(III)-mediated transformations and radical-based processes as versatile tools for accessing diverse molecular scaffolds. Expanding beyond small-molecule synthesis, I seek to explore the design of advanced functional materials, including covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and related porous systems, particularly those incorporating unconventional charge distributions for applications in catalysis and gas storage. In parallel, I am keen to contribute to sustainability-driven research, including CO₂ capture and its transformation into value-added chemicals such as polycarbonates with potential biomedical applications. By integrating synthetic methodology development with material design and green chemistry principles, I aim to address contemporary challenges in energy, environment, and health. Overall, my goal is to establish a research program that bridges fundamental organic synthesis with real-world applications, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation at the chemistry–materials–biology interface.
