About me

Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry and Director of RICE at Kampala International University, Uganda. I hold a PhD in medical biochemistry, nutraceuticals, molecular biology, and toxicology, and I integrate in vivo and in silico research in drug discovery. With 200+ publications and international grants, I mentor students in laboratory research, bioinformatics, scientific writing, and grant development, preparing them for academic, industry, and global research careers.

Interests: My research interests lie in nutritional and medical biochemistry, with a strong focus on the discovery and development of natural products and nutraceuticals for the prevention and management of chronic diseases. I study how cancer, metabolic disorders, reproductive toxicity, and infectious diseases work at a molecular level, especially by looking at how miRNAs, RNA biology, oxidative stress, and inflammation are regulated. My work integrates in vivo, in vitro, and in silico approaches, including molecular docking, bioinformatics, computational drug design, and experimental validation. I am particularly interested in RNA-based therapeutics, phytochemical profiling, and translational strategies that bridge laboratory findings with clinical and public health applications. Ultimately, my research aims to develop safe, affordable, and evidence-based therapeutic solutions relevant to Africa and the global health community
