About me
My background is in microbial ecology, specifically through the lens of bioinformatics. I have worked on the genomes of novel strains and assembling metagenomes from extreme ecosystems for a decade. I would offer my expertise in sequence-based analysis in the command line, knowledge in microbial ecology and practical advice in publishing and performing scientific research professionally.
Interests: My research focuses on understanding extreme environments by studying the microbial residents that live in such locations. The adaptions used by bacteria to combat stress (and particularly heat) is a focus of mine, and so is the roles of viruses (bacteriophages) by infecting susceptible hosts. Finally, I am very interested in discovering new antibiotics through long-read sequencing.
