About me
Dr. Katia Mohand Saidi is an expert chemist and researcher with a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Working at CRAPC, she specializes in organic synthesis, advanced analytics (LC/MS-MS, GC/MS-MS, NMR), and computational modeling (DFT, docking, MD). Her work spans drug design, cancer biosensors, and green hydrogen catalysis. With 23+ publications, a patented hydrogen device, and the Best PhD Student (2025–26) award, she bridges medicinal chemistry and sustainable technologies.
Interests: My research lies at the dynamic intersection of Medicinal Chemistry, Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD), Electrocatalysis, and Advanced Biosensing Technologies. I focus on the rational design, multistep organic synthesis, and structural characterization of novel bioactive heterocyclic scaffolds—such as benzofuran hybrids, dihydropyridines, and sulfonamides—targeting critical pathologies including cancer, inflammatory disorders, oxidative stress, and bacterial infections. To guide and streamline this discovery process, I integrate advanced computational chemistry techniques, including Density Functional Theory (DFT), molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and in silico ADMET predictions, alongside comprehensive in vitro screening and in vivo toxicological profiling to elucidate structure-activity relationships and mechanism-of-action pathways. In parallel, I actively investigate sustainable catalytic systems, developing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), carbon- and graphene-based nanocomposites, and metal-free organic electrocatalysts tailored for clean energy applications—notably modular hydrogen generation from chemical hydrides and hydrazine electro-oxidation. Leveraging this interface of functional material design and electrochemistry, my work also extends to the development of high-sensitivity, point-of-care electrochemical biosensors for the early diagnostic detection of clinical biomarkers such as CA-125.
