About me

While I’ve had prior clinical exposure, this program offered something different: the chance to observe physicians across multiple specialties like radiology, anesthesiology, internal medicine, and dermatology in a European hospital system, engage with cross-cultural patient care, and reflect on the universality and variation of medical practice across borders. I’m especially excited to connect what I learn there with my long-standing interest in public health and health equity.

Interests: My commitment to cancer research stems from a deep calling to serve others through primary care, particularly in underserved and rural communities. I’m drawn to the opportunity to build long-term, meaningful relationships with patients and address their health holistically. Having just completed my first semester of medical school at Ponce Health Sciences University, my background in community service has instilled in me a passion for health equity and preventive care, aligning closely with Moffitt Cancer Center’s mission to enhance care for the medically underserved through compassionate, patient-centered care. What draws me most to Moffitt is its emphasis on rural and community-based medicine, as well as its commitment to cancer prevention of all forms. These values mirror my own belief in addressing social determinants of health and providing care that honors each patient’s unique context. I see primary care as a front line for change, and I’m eager to be trained at an institution that prepares physicians to lead with both clinical excellence and empathy. My time at MD Anderson Cancer Center deepened my interest in anesthesiology and pain management. I contributed to published research, refined microscopy skills, and completed a project involving filipin staining. I was also fortunate to participate in the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), where I worked alongside like-minded peers on projects in genetics and organic chemistry, preparing me for the academic demands ahead.
