Interests: Dr. Mahanthesh Kumar G T’s research interests are centered on translational nanobiotechnology and evidence-based phytopharmacology, with a strong focus on cancer therapeutics and metabolic disorders. His key research domains include: Green Nanobiotechnology – Eco-friendly synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles using medicinal plant extracts, with emphasis on scalable, reproducible, and sustainable nanofabrication strategies. Nanomedicine for Cancer Therapeutics – Design and development of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems targeting breast cancer (including triple-negative breast cancer) and lung cancer, integrating physicochemical characterization with biological validation. Phytochemical Profiling and Bioactive Compound Isolation – Extraction, purification, and structural elucidation of plant-derived secondary metabolites (e.g., terpenoids such as trans-β-ionone) and evaluation of their pharmacological activities. Molecular Mechanisms of Anticancer Action – Investigation of apoptosis induction, oxidative stress modulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cell cycle arrest pathways using in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Antidiabetic and Enzyme Inhibition Studies – Evaluation of α-amylase and related metabolic enzyme inhibition using plant extracts and nanoparticle formulations as potential therapeutic agents. Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Studies – Assessment of biofunctionalized nanoparticles and phytocompounds against pathogenic microorganisms and oxidative stress models. Photocatalytic and Environmental Applications of Nanomaterials – Exploration of metal oxide nanoparticles for pollutant degradation and sustainable environmental remediation. Translational Research and Drug Development – Bridging natural product research, nanotechnology, and pharmacology to develop safe, cost-effective, and clinically relevant therapeutic candidates.
