About me
Applied AI researcher and PI on Japan's national Digital Brain project with 10+ years building large-scale computational systems. I offer students hands-on guidance in brain-inspired AI, spiking neural networks, reinforcement learning, HPC deployment, and scientific software development. I have mentored 10+ PhD students and postdocs across OIST, RIKEN, and other institutions. I bridge neuroscience and AI, helping students turn research ideas into working systems.
Interests: My research focuses on biologically-inspired AI and computational neuroscience, specifically brain circuit simulation, large-scale neural simulation, and brain connectivity using spiking neural networks and cortico-basal ganglia-cerebellar-thalamic models. I develop data-to-model workflows, mechanistic simulation platforms, and digital twins of the brain. Core methods include reinforcement learning, continual learning, multi-agent systems, evolutionary algorithms, multi-objective optimization, mean-field approximations, and dimensionality reduction. I apply these to AI for Science, AI agents, and data-to-model pipelines targeting brain modeling and disease understanding.
